It’ll Be Fine, or Will It?
Are there moments when being told “It’ll be fine” raises concern instead of providing reassurance? Sometimes it lands harder than expected. When you’re wired to anticipate what could go wrong, reassurance without a plan can feel like being asked to tolerate mishaps that could have been prevented. You might be a Planner if… you instinctively feel responsible for preventing mishaps.
You recognize the other person could be genuinely trying to help by reducing anxiety or remaining optimistic. But instead of relief, you feel tension rising — like all the responsibility just shifted onto you.
🔎 In moments like this, it helps to use language that keeps the conversation open. Something like: “I feel more reassured when I can think through what could happen and know I have support.”
